Manual for the Evaluation of Cognitive Dysfunction in Schizophrenia
Both instructive and practical, the Manual for the Evaluation of Cognitive Dysfunction in Schizophrenia for the first time addresses a consistent method for the systematic and objective evaluation of cognitive deficits in patients with schizophrenia.
Thus, professionals can now make a thorough and standardised evaluation of the cognitive dysfunction of patients with schizophrenia through the application of a set of well-established tests in the area of neuropsychology. These have been organised for the first time in a battery specifically devoted to the evaluation of patients with schizophrenia: the CFSCE (Conde de Ferreira Standardised Cognitive Evaluation).
In addition to proposing an innovative scoring method of the battery on the site www.saude-mental.net/cfsce, the password to which is attached in the back cover page of this Manual, it will provide information on how to access the appropriate scoring software, with the particularity of translating the results of the automatic calculations into a clear and objective summary report. We believe that with this Manual we have contributed to a more rigorous and scientific evaluation of this important dysfunction which greatly decreases the social integration capacities of patients who suffer from schizophrenia. Therefore, the Manual for the Evaluation of Cognitive Dysfunction in Schizophrenia, which is aimed directly at psychiatrists, psychologists and other mental health professionals, ultimately benefits the patients evaluated by it.
